Matthew C. Thompson, co-leader of Sidley’s Entertainment, Sports and Media group firmwide, has been named to The Hollywood Reporter’s 2024 “Top Music Attorneys” list. The special supplement profiles Hollywood’s “chart-topping lawyers” sought out by recording artists and entertainment companies alike.
The Hollywood Reporter commended Matt for assisting Warner Music Group (WMG) in its recent reorganization of Atlantic Records and for helping WMG and its affiliates in a joint venture with 10K Projects, which is home to such artists as Ice Spice, Artemas, and Trippie Redd. Matt also drew praise for working on large catalog acquisitions, such as WMG’s purchase of the complete recorded music catalog of Yes.
Based in Sidley’s Century City office, Matt represents entertainment companies and sources of capital in complex M&A and financing transactions, as well as general corporate matters. He also represents entertainment companies and other similar parties in a wide variety of industry-focused commercial transactions.
