Sidley Recognized for Helping Mainland Chinese Companies to “Go Global”

Sidley has been recognized by the Hong Kong Department of Justice as one of the professional services firms in Hong Kong helping Chinese clients with “bridging the Chinese Mainland and global market” through their international outlook, high professional standards, and “nuanced understanding of both Chinese and global context.”

Sidley has been especially highlighted for providing counsel to Sino-Ocean in its restructuring of US$6 billion in offshore debt. Sino-Ocean’s restructuring was the first restructuring of a Chinese property group to be implemented via an English Restructuring Plan, and the matter has been described as a key precedent and a strong example of international cooperation.
