Partner Olivia Ngan and counsel Alan Wong of Sidley’s China Corporate & Finance group have been appointed as members of the Documentation Committee of the Asia Pacific Loan Market Association (APLMA).
The Documentation Committee promotes the use of the market standard documentation used by the syndicated loan markets (APLMA Standard Documents) across the Asia Pacific region. It works with loan practitioners and law firms to review, update, and monitor legislative, regulatory, and market changes for impact on existing Standard Documents. Through its various committees, the APLMA promotes standards on critical issues affecting the syndicated loan market, including green and sustainable finance, loan trading, and risk-free reference rates.
Founded in 1998, the APLMA is a professional, not-for-profit trade association funded by its members. Its membership has grown to over 400 institutions which included banks, non-bank financial institutions, law firms, insurers, government and rating agencies as well as data and other service providers.
Sidley has, for decades, pioneered the development of innovative financial instruments for the world’s financial markets, and that reputation for innovation extends to the Asia Pacific region. It has been recently named as “Banking and Finance Firm of the Year” by China Business Law Journal 2023 and is ranked one of the top legal advisors in Debtwire’s Asia Pacific Loan League Table 2021 - 2023 H1. The team has received a number of accolades by independent organizations including The Legal 500 Asia Pacific, The Asset, and IFLR Asia-Pacific Awards.
