COURTNEY GILBERG represents public and private clients, including private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies, in complex corporate and transactional matters, such as acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and investments. She also advises clients on corporate governance and general corporate matters. Courtney’s experience includes representation of clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, financial services, technology, insurance, manufacturing, and energy.
Courtney is associate deputy co-chair of the Dallas Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and is a member of the Dallas Committee for SidleyWomen and the Dallas Committee for the Recruiting of Associates. In addition to her transactional practice, she was a member of the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers 2022 Leadership Class, and she regularly provides pro bono services to clients through the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program. Prior to joining Sidley, Courtney worked as a corporate associate in the Dallas office of an international law firm.
Courtney’s experience has earned her recognition as a leading lawyer in the 2021–2024 editions of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Leveraged Buyouts and Private Equity Law, and Corporate Law.
Courtney earned her J.D., with honors, from The University of Texas School of Law, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif. While attending law school, she was an associate editor for the Texas Law Review and was a student in the Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic where she represented nonprofit and small business clients in a variety of transactional business law matters. Prior to law school, Courtney graduated, with distinction, from The University of North Carolina with a B.A. in economics and international studies and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
