NICOLE M. RYAN and focuses her practice on commercial litigation and disputes, including business torts, securities litigation, corporate governance disputes and class actions. She has represented clients in a range of industries in some of their most complex and significant disputes.

Nicole has represented technology companies, financial services companies, insurance companies, national accounting firms, directors, officers and other clients in securities law matters, internal investigations, professional liability matters and other complex commercial cases, including contract disputes, title insurance litigation, escheat litigation, fraud claims, breach of fiduciary duty claims, negligence claims, and unfair competition claims. She has obtained defense verdicts in jury and arbitration trials and has prevailed on dispositive motions in numerous complex litigation matters.

• Represented title insurance companies in Alpert v. Cuesta Title Company (San Luis Obispo, Cal., Superior Court), a bellwether jury trial for eight coordinated cases brought by approximately 500 plaintiffs/investors who lost over $75 million in an alleged Ponzi scheme. After a nine-week trial, the jury returned a defense verdict on all claims.
• Represent leading EV charging company in a dispute with a contract manufacturer under their Master Services Agreement in California state court.
• Represented electronics manufacturing services company in case involving claims of unfair competition, fraud and breach of contract related to U.S. and international purchasing practices.
• Represented financial services firm in FINRA arbitration proceeding. Following a multi-week hearing, the arbitration panel denied claimants’ claims in their entirety.
• Represent life insurance companies in cases brought by state controllers and other government officials alleging violations of state unclaimed property laws.
• Represented numerous technology companies in class actions and related derivative litigation alleging securities fraud.
• Represented title insurance company in putative class action alleging fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition and civil RICO claims.
• Represented Big Four accounting firms in securities class actions and professional liability actions alleging financial fraud.
• Represented biotechnology company in SEC and DOJ investigations.
