In a world where only 10% of world leaders are women, it’s important that every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential. Wedu envisions a world where 50% of leaders are women, and their mission is to unlock the leadership potential of women by providing them with access to lifelong mentorship, leadership development programs and innovative financing options to complete higher education and become change-makers in their communities. Wedu was founded in 2012 to address the lack of female leaders, and since then, they have grown rapidly to serve more than 2000 women across 27 countries.
Wedu works with local NGOs, educational institutions, and individuals based in local communities who act as Talent Spotters, identifying young women who demonstrate strong leadership potential, with a focus on women from underserved communities. Upon acceptance to the Wedu Leadership Development Program, young women (‘Rising Stars’) receive mentoring from a committed mentor, guided by a specially developed mentorship curriculum that enables them to establish clear goals of social change and develop their personal and professional leadership potential and skills to realize these goals. Wedu also provides innovative financing options for Rising Stars to complete their university education, while also receiving guidance and planning support to choose the type of financing option that is most suitable for their future goals.
