On December 11, 2025, the White House published an Executive Order titled "Ensuring A National Policy Framework for Artificial Intelligence." The Executive Order's stated purpose is to establish "a minimally burdensome national policy framework for AI" in light of "onerous and excessive" State AI laws. The Executive Order establishes a task force whose sole responsibility will be to challenge State AI laws, directs Executive agencies to restrict funding for States with AI laws deemed to conflict with Federal AI policy, and provides for Federal preemption of certain State AI laws.December 11, 2025
