Sidley Continues to Expand Its Trade Practice, Adding Former U.S. Department of the Treasury Official Jess Sanchez in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. – Sidley is pleased to announce that Jess Sanchez has joined the firm’s Litigation group as a partner in its Chambers Band 1 Global Arbitration, Trade and Advocacy practice in Sidley’s office in Washington, D.C. She was previously Acting Principal Deputy Assistant General Counsel in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and, prior to that, held positions in the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and in private practice.
Ms. Sanchez will draw on more than a decade of federal government experience to advise clients on complex legal, regulatory, policy, and national security matters, including those involving the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), the Outbound Investment Security Program, and national security-related trade issues. She brings to her practice a sophisticated understanding of how federal agencies operate and how legal, policy, and national security considerations intersect.
“Jess brings exceptional experience at the center of U.S. investment screening and national security policy, including significant involvement in CFIUS matters and the development of regulations governing outbound investment,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Chair of Sidley’s Management Committee. “Her perspective will strengthen an increasingly important capability for our clients as companies, sponsors, and investors navigate a rapidly evolving regulatory environment.”
“Jess is a terrific addition to our Washington, D.C. office, with contacts throughout the U.S. government,” said Kristin Graham Koehler, managing partner of Sidley’s Washington, D.C. office and a member of the firm’s Management Committee and Executive Committee. “Collaborating closely with partners across the firm, Jess will help clients achieve certainty, preserve investment opportunities, and manage risk in sophisticated cross-border transactions.”
This addition comes on the heels of other significant additions to Sidley Trade’s practice, including Maura Rezendes, whose practice focuses on economic sanctions; John Foote, whose practice focuses on customs; Justin Becker, whose practice focuses on trade remedies; and Boyd Greene, who advises companies on government contracts and national security matters.
