Biography

PETER MARDIAN concentrates his practice in the areas of antitrust and securities litigation, representing clients across industries in class and direct actions alleging price fixing and securities fraud, as well as in matters concerning various contract and tort claims. Peter also counsels clients regarding commercial foreclosures and related real estate disputes.

Peter maintains an active pro bono practice and, in 2023, led a team awarded The Honorable J. Clarence Herlihy Access to Justice Award by Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York for providing “unparalleled” “skill, knowledge, and professionalism” in litigating an action against the State of New York.

Peter received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he was a James Wilson Scholar, member of the University of Pennsylvania Supreme Court Clinic, and winner of the Edwin R. Keedy Cup, the school’s moot court competition.

Peter holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and finance.

Representative Matters

Peter’s recent representative matters include:

  • Defense of a global financial institution in multi-district litigation involving direct and putative class claims alleging price-fixing and manipulation of the LIBOR benchmark.
  • Defense of multiple chemicals companies in class action cases brought by direct and indirect purchasers alleging a price-fixing and supply reduction conspiracy in the market for caustic soda.
  • An indirect subsidiary of a PRC-listed company in litigation relating to its investment in a private fund invested exclusively in the common stock of SpaceX (trial held in December 2024).
  • Defense of a global financial institution in multiple arbitrations alleging securities, contract, and tort claims, including through final hearing.
  • A lender in a US$350 million commercial foreclosure, including through public auction and sale, and in successful dismissal of counterclaim asserted by mezzanine lender.
