Biography

AVNI MEHTA focuses her practice on global corporate and private equity transaction matters representing privately held corporate entities and funds in domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, other business combinations, equity investments, corporate restructurings, and general corporate matters.

During law school Avni was the business editor of the Journal of Gender and Law. Additionally, she was a law clerk extern for the honorable Roslynn R. Mauskopf of the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of New York. Avni is also an alumna of the New York City Bar Association’s Associate Leadership Institute.

Avni was honored with the “Mentor of the Year” award by the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California in 2025.

  • Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. and Francisco Partners Management, L.P. in their proposed US$2.1 billion acquisition of Software Integrity Group from Synopsys, Inc.
  • Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. in a number of significant transactions, including its:
    • US$4.4 billion take-private acquisition of Alteryx, Inc.
    • sale of Archer to Cinven Limited in equal partnership with Symphony Technology Group
    • sale of Brightly Software, Inc., to Siemens AG for US$1.875 billion.
    • sale of ProVation Software to Fortive Corporation for US$1.425 billion.
  • Naturium in its US$355 million acquisition by e.l.f. Beauty, Inc.
  • BetaNXT in its acquisition of Mediant Communications.
  • Brand Velocity Group (BVG) in its acquisition of SCORE Sports, a designer, manufacturer, and seller of youth team sports uniforms and equipment.

  • FocalPoint Securities, LLC in its acquisition by B. Riley Financial for total consideration of up to US$175 million.
  • DigiCert, Inc., in a strategic investment by Crosspoint Capital Partners, L.P.
  • Zywave, in the acquisition of ClarionDoor.
  • Confluence Technologies Inc., a Clearlake Capital-backed leading analytics-driven provider of investment management solutions in multiple acquisitions, including its acquisitions of Compliance Solutions Strategies and Investment Metrics
  • FinThrive, Inc., in its US$1.74 billion acquisition of TransUnion Healthcare from TransUnion (NYSE: TRU).
  • Blackstone and Onyx Renewable Partners on the sale of multiple portfolios of solar and energy storage projects across the U.S. and an equity stake in Onyx to SDCL Energy Efficiency Income Trust plc.
  • A leading solar company in its sale of three solar energy projects in Mexico to two Korean energy companies.
  • Eldorado Resorts, Inc. on its US$17.3 billion merger with Caesars Entertainment Corporation.

Pro Bono

Avni maintains an active pro bono practice and has represented undocumented immigrants in removal, asylum, and SIJS proceedings, and advised various non-profit organizations in connection with corporate governance matters and corporate formalities (including setting up new non-profit organizations). Avni was a New York State Pro Bono Scholar in 2016. She is a member of Sidley’s Pro Bono and Public Interest Law Committee.
