JOHN MUNO is the leader of the firm’s Private Equity Funds practice. He focuses his practice on the formation and operation of private equity investment funds across a wide range of strategies, including leveraged buyouts, distressed investments, secondaries, growth equity, and fund of funds. He has represented sponsors in the formation of funds ranging from multibillion-dollar funds to smaller first-time funds targeting various industries, including technology, software, healthcare, industrial, and business services. John also advises clients on continuation funds, annex funds, investment structuring, cross-fund transactions, and other complex transactions.
As fund counsel, John regularly advises his clients on all aspects of the fundraising process, including providing market intelligence, review of marketing materials, preparation of all fundraising documentation and governing agreements, and leading negotiations with various participants in the fund formation process. In connection with his practice, John possesses extensive knowledge of various securities and tax laws, tax planning and accounting issues, and regulatory matters affecting investment firms and the funds they manage, which allows him to address complex issues and develop practical solutions.
In addition, John has thorough experience in advising and guiding his clients on all facets of their internal management structuring, governance, and operational matters, including advising on succession planning, GP stakes transactions, investment professional admissions and departures, and all other general maintenance matters.
