KAREN NORMIL focuses her practice on the structuring, operation, and offering of private investments funds, and advising institutional investors in connection with their investments in private funds. She also advises registered funds and investment managers in connection with ongoing legal and regulatory compliance with securities laws.
Prior to joining Sidley, Karen was a community fellow with Immigrant Justice Corps, where she represented low-income New Yorkers in a variety of immigration matters and deepened her commitment to immigrant and underserved communities. She subsequently gained experience in public-interest and governmental roles, including positions at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, SDNY, Civil Division, Youth Represent, and Brooklyn Defender Services’ Immigration Department.
While attending Fordham University School of Law, Karen served as an editor of the Fordham Journal of Corporate and Financial Law. She was also selected as a “Stein Scholar in Public Interest Law and Ethics” and as a “Realizing Excellence and Access in the Law (REAL) Scholar.”
