Sidley Welcomes Back International Trade Partner Justin Becker in Washington, D.C.
Washington, D.C. – Sidley is pleased to announce that Justin Becker has rejoined the firm’s Chambers Band 1 Global Arbitration, Trade & Advocacy practice in Sidley’s office in Washington, D.C. He was previously at Sidley for nine years and also worked at the Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration. Mr. Becker joins from Baker McKenzie, where he was a partner in the Trade practice.
Mr. Becker advises clients on an array of trade remedy matters, including antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission, Section 301 and Section 232 investigations before relevant US agencies and offices in the Executive branch, and currently contested reciprocal and other tariffs under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. He has appeared before the US Court of International Trade, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and has argued before a Chapter 19 NAFTA panel. Justin is also on the USMCA Dispute Settlement Panels Roster on behalf of the United States.
“Justin’s experience in handling high-value antidumping and countervailing duty investigations is increasingly important for clients across industries given the current trade environment and our global platform,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Management Committee Chair and a member of the Executive Committee. “Having worked at the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration earlier in his career, Justin also has an understanding of the complexities of the U.S. and international trade proceedings.”
“Justin has strong client connections and is well-known and well-respected at Sidley,” said Kristin Graham Koehler, managing partner of Sidley’s Washington, D.C., office and a member of Sidley’s Management Committee and Executive Committee. “He has many deep relationships here and we are delighted to welcome him back to collaborate and expand our capabilities for existing platform clients as well as new clients on trade matters.”
Overall, Mr. Becker is the eleventh exceptionally talented partner to join Sidley’s Washington, D.C., office over the past year: Alexis Cohen, Greg Lantier, Paul Boehm, Maura Rezendes, John Foote, Barbara Stettner, Molly Lovedale, Alana Genderson, Michael Hochman, and Lisa Miller.
