Sidley Advises Fortitude International Reinsurance Company Ltd. in US$4 Billion Reinsurance Transaction With Taiyo Life

Sidley represented Fortitude International Reinsurance Company Ltd., a subsidiary of Fortitude Re, in a US$4 billion reinsurance transaction with Taiyo Life.
Under the transaction, Taiyo Life has reinsured a significant portion of its whole life annuity business to Fortitude Re. The transaction marks Fortitude Re’s second reinsurance transaction with Taiyo Life and Fortitude Re’s sixth deal in Japan.
The Sidley team was led by Jon Kelly and John Grothaus (both Financial Institutions – Insurance), and included Sharon DiPrinzio and Spencer Caro (both Financial Institutions – Insurance).
