Sofiya Bumagin

SOFIYA BUMAGIN advises financial sponsors and private capital providers on a range of infrastructure and private equity M&A transactions, including energy transition matters in the battery storage and district heating space, and digital infrastructure (across telecoms towers, fiber, and data centers). She has a strong interest in environment, social, and governance matters and experience advising on an array of transactions in the voluntary carbon markets.

Prior to joining Sidley, Sofiya was in-house as a legal director at a global investment group, supporting the infrastructure investment team.

Recent examples of Sofiya's work include assisting in the representation of:

• Pictet Alternative Advisors in its acquisition of Technology Services Group Limited.
• Advising a state-owned investment company on their investment in a battery storage operator in the UK
• Advising an infrastructure fund on an acquisition of a set of European data centers by way of a carve-out from the seller’s existing business
• Acting for a number of investors on their financings and offtake agreements involving voluntary carbon credits
• Advising a consortium of infrastructure investors on the c. GBP 4 billion takeover of a London-listed aviation business
• Acting for a private equity investor on their acquisition of a stake in a UK fiber-to-the-premises business
• Acting for a number of corporates on the carve-outs of their telecoms towers businesses
• Acting for a private equity investor on their buy-out of a French care homes business
• Acting for a private equity investor on a number of buy-outs of businesses in the U.S. with complex carve-out features
