Dr. Michail Dekastros represents private parties and governments in international dispute settlements, with a particular focus on investment treaty arbitration and WTO law. His experience covers disputes in the financial services, oil and gas, mining, gaming, and media sectors under a variety of arbitration rules, including ICSID, UNCITRAL and LCIA. In addition, he advises governments on issues of public international law and investment treaty arbitration.
Michail holds a Ph.D. in international law from the European University Institute in Florence. His thesis concerns Sovereign Wealth Funds in international investment and WTO law, with a particular emphasis on market access, national security and dispute settlement.
Michail has also received an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, and was a Visiting Researcher at Harvard Law School for a year. He was an editor of the European Journal of Legal Studies and has published articles in the areas of international investment law, as well as WTO and EU law.
Prior to joining Sidley, Michail gained experience in international arbitration and public international law at other international law firms in Paris.
