Robin W. Z. Rivaux

ROBIN RIVAUX focuses her practice on a range of complex litigation matters, including contract disputes, product liability and mass torts, whistleblower complaints, and internal and government investigations. She has experience with clients across various industries, including food and beverage companies, accounting firms, retailers, consumer electronics manufacturers, and healthcare companies.

Robin is a versatile team member who adds value to any stage of litigation. Some of her key roles include conducting witness interviews, arguing discovery motions, and drafting pre-trial and post-trial briefing and motions. She has represented individual shareholders of a significant franchising business, in a case involving alleged breaches of a shareholder’s agreement and fiduciary duties, in a three-week-long trial in the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Prior to joining Sidley, Robin served as a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow, working with the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation to advocate for survivors of sexual violence. She also interned with the Appellate Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.

Robin earned her J.D. from Harvard Law School and received a B.A. with distinction from Cornell University, where she double-majored in economics and China & Asia-Pacific studies. Prior to law school, she worked as a consultant at an international business strategy firm founded by former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and she worked in business development at another global law firm. 

Robin speaks French and Mandarin and has managed foreign-language discovery.

Robin serves on Sidley’s Associate Relations Committee and the Chicago Litigation Group’s Social and Civil Committee. She is also an active member of ASPIRE@Sidley (Asians on Promotion, Retention, and Excellence at Sidley).

Robin maintains an active pro bono practice and currently represents an incarcerated individual under the Illinois Torture Inquiry and Relief Act, as well as refugees and asylees. She has also successfully represented multiple individuals in criminal record expungement hearings. While attending law school, Robin dedicated over 1,000 pro bono hours advocating for the rights of asylum seekers, low-income taxpayers, and incarcerated people, among others.
