Biography

EMILY ROSE focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, including class actions, mass torts, and coordinated proceedings. She has handled matters in state and federal courts across the country at all stages of litigation, from initial motions practice through trial and appeals. Emily has experience with a range of industries, from financial services to gig economy platforms to manufacturing, and a range of substantive areas of law, from personal injury to antitrust.

Emily received her J.D. and was elected to the Order of the Coif from the University of Michigan Law School. She clerked for The Honorable Robert E. Payne for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Emily received her B.S., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University.

Experience

Representative Matters

  • Defended a secondary lead smelter in mass tort litigation that followed the publication of a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative series.
  • Defended a technology company in complex civil personal injury litigation involving the preparation of multiple bellwether cases for trial.
  • Defended a Fortune 10 financial institution against multibillion-dollar residential mortgage-backed securities claims in a six-week trial.
  • Defended a Fortune 10 financial institution against purported class actions related to administration of the Paycheck Protection Program.
  • Represented a financial institution in a state attorney general antitrust and consumer protection investigation into a client’s Environmental, Social, and Governance policies.
  • Defended manufacturers against unfair competition “greenwashing” claims.
  • Represented a large health insurer in reimbursement disputes brought by institutions and insureds.
  • Represented a union against claims of antitrust violations related to California Environmental Quality Act petitions.
  • Represented an accounting firm in a PCAOB investigation of a foreign subsidiary.
  • Defended an accounting firm in connection with allegations that an accounting treatment led to an insurer’s statutory insolvency.
