MATTHEW SHERIDAN is the managing partner of Sidley’s Singapore office and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He is global co-leader of the Capital Markets practice and Asia co-leader of the International Corporate Finance practice. Matt has lived and worked in Asia for over 25 years. He has been recognized as one of the early pioneers of the Asian high yield debt capital markets, helping adapt a New York law product to Asian markets and regularly works on some of the most complex landmark transactions in the region. Matt excels in helping clients diversify and develop their capital structures.
Matt represents underwriters and issuers, including corporate enterprises, financial institutions, governments and governmental entities in connection with corporate financings through global offerings of debt and equity securities, as well as mergers and acquisitions and corporate and distressed restructurings. He advises clients throughout the Asia Pacific region, including Indonesia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. His experience includes transactions involving a broad range of sectors, including real estate, telecommunications, financial institutions, technology, transportation, metals, mining, forest products, consumer products, power and oil and gas.
Matt has been recognized as a leading lawyer by numerous publications, including Legal 500 Asia Pacific, Chambers Global, Chambers Asia Pacific, Asia Business Law Journal, International Financial Law Review’s IFLR 1000, Asia Law & Practice’s Asialaw Leading Lawyers, The Asian Lawyer, PLC Which Lawyer and Who’s Who Legal – Capital Markets.
