Proposed EU data regulations will impact California

In this increasingly globalized economy, it pays to know what laws are being enacted overseas that may affect how U.S. companies conduct business. One significant change is imminent, as lawmakers finalize a new European Union law known as the EU Data Protection Regulation. This overhaul of data privacy law - started three years ago in response to the growth of cloud computing, social media, data analytics and targeted advertising - will have profound effects on California companies that do business with, or monitor the behavior of, residents of any of the 28 EU member states.
