Sidley has won the “Best Pro Bono Initiative” award at The Lawyer European Awards 2024. The annual awards “celebrate excellence across the European legal market.” The award recognizes the firm for its Trade for Development Initiative and its commitment to promoting sustainable and just climate action through strategic technical and legal pro bono advice to least-developed countries, lower-middle income countries, trade associations, and international organizations.
Through the Trade for Development Initiative, Sidley provides tailored, hands-on trainings to entrepreneurs, government officials, and policy makers on key legal topics in the context of trade, sustainable development, and green growth.
The Trade for Development Initiative is led by partners Iain Sandford and Nicolas J.S. Lockhart and pro bono manager Diana Carballo from Sidley’s Geneva office. Senior managing associates Deepak Raju, Katherine Connolly, and Dominic Coppens play a central role.
