Sidley Achieves Dismissal With Prejudice for Monsanto Mid-Trial in Roundup Product Liability Litigation
March 7, 2024
Sidley obtained a major victory on behalf of Roundup herbicide manufacturer Monsanto in a product liability trial in California’s Sonoma County Superior Court alleging that Roundup was linked to the Plaintiffs’ injuries.
On March 5, 2024 (the third day of trial), Plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed their case with prejudice, unable to prove that Roundup was the cause of their alleged injuries. The judge accepted the dismissal with prejudice and discharged the jury. This is the third consecutive victory that Bayer, owner of Monsanto, has won at trial.
The Sidley team was led by Washington, D.C. partner Jennifer Saulino, and also included partner Michelle Ramirez (Chicago), senior managing associate Jaime Simon (Chicago), managing associate Elizabeth Noel Ertle (Washington, D.C.), managing associate Bridget Murphy Wholey (Chicago), and associate Tyler VanderMolen (Washington, D.C.).
