MARIO SAMOS is a managing associate in the corporate group in Sidley’s Houston office with a focus on the energy industry. His practice covers power sales, structured finance and mergers and acquisitions. Mario’s experience ranges from advising project developers, power offtakers and financial institutions on project financings, power purchase agreements and commodity hedges to representing private equity firms in their purchase, sale and financing of power projects and oil and gas assets. Mario’s representations have included wind, solar and natural gas power generation facilities, as well as upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas operations.
Mario earned his J.D. from Northwestern University’s Pritzker School of Law. During law school, Mario interned at JPMorgan Chase & Co. where he worked on corporate, regulatory and commercial banking matters. He also interned at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission researching investment fraud and insider trading. Prior to attending law school, Mario served as an Analyst at the U.S. Department of Justice where he assessed emerging security threats.
Mario earned his MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and his B.A. in Mathematical Economic Analysis from Rice University.
