David A. Silva has been named to the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association’s 2023 “40 Best LGBTQ+ Lawyers Under 40” list. The annual list recognizes LGBTQ+ legal professionals under 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and have demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBTQ+ equality.
Passionate in his dedication to supporting the LGBTQ+ community, David was a founding member (and later chair) of the North Texas Steering Committee for Equality Texas, the state’s largest political advocacy organization working for the elimination of discrimination targeting the LGBTQ+ community. He also maintains a robust pro bono practice, with notable representations of the Human Rights Campaign, Lambda Legal, and Freedom for All Americans, as well as queer asylum applicants fleeing political persecution and violence.
David is counsel in Sidley’s White Collar and Commercial Litigation and Disputes practices. He regularly defends companies and their directors, officers, and employees in complex criminal and civil investigations, environmental government enforcement actions, and white collar matters. David frequently represents clients in issues arising out of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as the False Claims Act, financial reporting misstatements, regulatory fraud, environmental violations, and employee misconduct. He also serves as an adjunct lecturer at SMU Dedman School of Law, teaching an upper-level course on internal investigations.
