Treasury Issues Long-Awaited Carbon Sequestration Tax Guidance Under Section 45Q

On February 18, 2020, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Treasury Department (Treasury) released long-awaited guidance relating to the tax credit for sequestration of carbon oxides provided by Section 45Q of the Internal Revenue Code (Code). This guidance addresses two issues on which developers of carbon sequestration facilities were seeking clarification.
