Yvette Ostolaza and Carter G. Phillips Named Among “America’s Top Lawyers” 2026 by Forbes

Forbes has named Yvette Ostolaza and Carter G. Phillips to its 2026 “America’s Top Lawyers” list. The list spotlights the lawyers “who stand apart in an extraordinarily competitive field” and who are “defining modern legal excellence” through their response to increasingly complex market challenges and sophisticated client needs.

In addition to serving as the firm’s Management Committee chair and member of the Executive Committee, Yvette is one of the country’s leading business litigators and crisis managers. She is retained to handle crisis matters and internal investigations on behalf of companies, board committees, and individual directors. Yvette regularly represents companies and directors in shareholder and securities class actions and commercial disputes.

Carter is one of the most experienced Supreme Court and appellate lawyers in the country. As a partner at Sidley, he has argued 82 cases before the Supreme Court, more than any other lawyer in private practice. Prior to joining Sidley, Carter served as an Assistant to the Solicitor General and in that position he argued nine cases before the Supreme Court on behalf of the United States government. He thus currently has a total of 91 oral arguments before the Supreme Court. Carter also has argued more than 150 times before the United States Courts of Appeals, including at least two arguments in every circuit and 40 cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
