Sidley Represents Waev in First-of-its-Kind Legal Action Over Treasury’s EV Tax Credit Rule
July 12, 2024
Sidley is representing electric vehicle maker Waev Inc. in a first-of-its kind legal action against the U.S. Department of the Treasury challenging the IRS rule that excluded the company’s low-speed GEM line of electric cars from the Inflation Reduction Act’s electric vehicle tax credit program. California-based Waev is also challenging a 50-year-old Environmental Protection Agency regulation defining a “motor vehicle” as part of the dispute.
The Sidley litigation team is being led by Justin A. Savage (Environmental), Nathan E. Clukey (Tax), and James R. Wedeking (Environmental), with support from Brian Morrissey (Litigation) and Brittany Bolen (Environmental).
