Sidley Represents Vi-Jon in Chapter 11 Case

On August 2, 2026, a Sidley team represented Vi-Jon, LLC (Vi-Jon), an American personal-care products provider and the oldest private label manufacturer in the United States, in its pre-arranged Chapter 11 filing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. The filing is intended to implement a comprehensive, consensual resolution of more than US$700 million in current and projected future talc-related claims through a global settlement between Vi-Jon, its parent, and affiliates, an ad hoc group of claimants representing over 80% of holders of talc-related claims against Vi-Jon and a future claimants’ representative.

St. Louis-based Vi-Jon is a provider of private-label dry bath products consisting of Epsom salts and body powder. Vi-Jon sells its products to major retailers across the United States such as Amazon, Dollar General, Kroger, TopCo, and Walgreens, and intends to continue operations in the ordinary course during the Chapter 11 proceeding. On September 2, 2026, Vi-Jon filed a Chapter 11 plan reflecting the global resolution of the talc-related claims. Supported by the official committee of unsecured creditors and the future claimants’ representative, the plan will establish a trust under section 524(g) of the Bankruptcy Code funded by a guaranteed US$25 million cash contribution from Vi Jon’s parent (Emprise), talc-related insurance rights, specified causes of action, and other assets.
