- Currently representing portfolio company against state court litigation regarding property acquired pursuant to Section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
- Currently serving as part of core team responding to numerous “Second Requests” from the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Competition Division of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
- Represented private equity firm against bet-the-company litigation brought by pension fund system in an injunctive relief action alleging material breaches of the partnership agreement and seeking to oust the longtime general partner.
- Represented global consulting firm against breaches of fiduciary duty and professional negligence allegations related to restructuring advice provided in connection with bankruptcy filing.
- Represented a major oil and gas company in connection with its government and internal investigation relating to Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) issues involving its Latin American subsidiary.
- Represented international life sciences, medical company in connection with its government and internal investigation relating to FCPA allegations concerning one of its Latin American subsidiaries.

Mustafa’s experience prior to joining Sidley includes:
- Represented Special Litigation Committee of major corporation in Silicon Valley in its internal investigation of shareholder allegations regarding insider trading and breach of fiduciary duties following the company’s public offering, in connection with ongoing investigation by regulatory authority.
- Represented pharmaceutical client in mergers and acquisitions purchase price adjustment arbitration and obtained favorable US$700 million settlement.
- Represented Houston non-profit center in coverage dispute with its insurer on claims post-Hurricane Harvey and facilitated successful seven-figure settlement for client. Prepared mediation statement and related arguments.
- Represented chief executive officer of bank in litigation against state banking agency which resulted in a favorable settlement.
