CHANSE BARNES is a managing associate in the Energy practice in Sidley’s office in Houston. Chanse’s practice focuses on representing private businesses and private equity funds in the energy and infrastructure space.
Chanse has previous industry experience representing private companies, portfolio companies, and management teams in a range of complex corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and general corporate matters. He also has experience representing commercial banks and financial institutions in several financing transactions including syndicated and reserve-based loans.
Prior to joining Sidley, Chanse represented White Oak Global Advisors in connection with the acquisition of multiple oilfield service businesses, including Felderhoff Brothers from Superior Energy, and the related restructuring and sale thereof to Scandrill, Inc. This transaction was awarded “Deal of the Year” by ACG Houston in 2020 in the category of oil and gas transactions under $500 million.
Chanse was recently selected as a 2021 Pathfinder of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). The Pathfinder program is designed to increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation’s law firms and corporate legal departments.
