Biography

RYAN FINK focuses his practice on all aspects of corporate restructuring, including bankruptcy proceedings, out of court reorganizations and workouts, distressed debt acquisitions and bankruptcy-related litigation. 

Prior to joining Sidley, Ryan was a high school Lincoln-Douglas debate coach, working with and mentoring several national champions. 

Ryan earned his law degree from The University of Iowa College of Law and received a B.S. in finance from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Debtor/Company-Side Experience

  • Harvest Sherwood Food Distributors, Inc., the largest independent food distributor in the United States, in its Chapter 11 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
  • CareMax, Inc., a U.S.–based healthcare company that operated 50 clinical centers and employed approximately 1,100 employees that served 260,000 patients annually, in connection with their prearranged Chapter 11 restructuring that addressed over US$500 million in funded term loans.
  • Mavenir, a Siris Capital portfolio company, in its comprehensive recapitalization with its lenders. Mavenir is a global telecommunications technology company that provides innovative network infrastructure solutions. Over US$1.3 billion of indebtedness was eliminated through the transaction and US$300 million of new senior financing was secured.
  • Casa Systems, Inc., a global provider of telecommunications services and technologies, and certain of its affiliates, in their pre-arranged Chapter 11 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
  • AppHarvest, Inc., an American hydroponics and vertical farming company, and its subsidiaries in their pre-arranged Chapter 11 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
  • Reverse Mortgage Investment Trust Inc. (RMIT) in their Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. RMIT was a leading fully integrated financing company that focused on the reverse mortgage industry, with a servicing portfolio of approximately US$25.57 billion as of October 31, 2022. With over US$1.4 billion in funded debt obligations, RMIT’s Chapter 11 cases were among the largest filed in 2022.
  •  RiseSun Real Estate Development Co., Limited and its subsidiaries in the restructuring of the group’s offshore dollar-denominated notes and their Chapter 15 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
  • Ventec Life Systems in connection with its sale to ReactHealth, recognized as the “Healthcare/Life Sciences Deal of the Year” at The M&A Advisor’s 21st annual M&A Advisor Awards in 2022.

Creditor/Other Party Experience

  • Stonepeak Infrastructure Partners (Stonepeak) in connection with the restructuring of a US$350 million unsecured note issued by Akumin, Inc. (Akumin), a national leader in comprehensive outpatient radiology and oncology solutions for hospitals and health systems, pursuant to which Stonepeak’s unsecured note was equitized into 100% of Akumin’s common equity in connection with a Chapter 11 process in the Southern District of Texas.
  • RenWave Kore, LLC in the pre-arranged Chapter 11 cases of STG Logistics, Inc. and certain of its affiliates in the U. S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.
  • Twin Star International, Inc. as the stalking horse purchaser in the pre-arranged Chapter 11 Cases of Walker Edison Holdco LLC and certain of its affiliates in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
  • American Entertainment Properties Corp. (“AEP”), an Icahn Enterprises, L.P. in the Chapter 11 cases of AEP’s affiliate, Auto Plus, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
  • Avalanche (BVI) Inc. in connection with the chapter 11 cases of Terraform Labs Pte. Ltd. and certain of its affiliates in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
