
Biography
DR. MARCUS KLIE is a partner in the Private Equity/M&A group in the Sidley office in Munich. He focuses on all aspects of German business and corporate law, in particular on cross-border and national mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, public tender offers and corporate restructurings. In addition, Marcus regularly advises on German stock corporation and capital markets law as well as corporate governance topics.
His clients include financial sponsors and strategic investors across a variety of industries, including technology, software, retail, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, healthcare and industrials.
In the 2024/2025 edition of the JUVE Handbook, Marcus is recognized as “Often Recommended” for Private Equity, with competitors praising his “competent coordination also in international projects.” Sources from the 2023/2024 edition describe him as “technically good,” and “assertive in negotiations.” As in previous editions (2020 — 2024), Marcus is currently ranked among the “best lawyers” for M&A, corporate law and private equity law by Handelsblatt Best Lawyers 2025. WirtschaftsWoche recognizes Marcus since 2021 in its list of the most prestigious law firms and lawyers for M&A in Germany.
