PATRICIA WOOD’s practice focuses on corporate and securities law matters and involves the representation of issuers, dealers, underwriters and agents in domestic and cross-border, SEC-registered and exempt transactions, including offerings of common and preferred stock, senior debt and equity derivatives. She has experience representing clients with ISDA documentation and in a diverse set of industries, including the biotech, consumer goods, energy, financial services, food and beverage, insurance and real estate sectors. Her work in Capital Markets gained her recognition in Crain’s New York Business’ “20 in Their 20s: 2020” list. Patricia has also been named to the National Association of Women Lawyers’ 2023 Rising List.
In addition, Patricia practiced as part of the firm’s Capital Markets group in London. During her time in the London office, Patricia deepened her experience through a variety of cross-border, SEC-registered and exempt transactions, including Fnac Darty SA’s senior notes offering.
Prior to joining Sidley, Patricia practiced at another major law firm where she represented clients in a range of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, public and private financings, and cross-border transactions.
Patricia received her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School, her MBA from the Schulich School of Business, and her BSc (Honors) from the University of Toronto. She also received her Certificate in International Business Law from Queen’s University and her Certificate in Transnational Legal Studies from the Center for Transnational Legal Studies (Georgetown University Law Center). During such time, Patricia participated in several organizations, including serving as a senior editor for Transnational Legal Theory and president of the Society for Corporate Governance at Osgoode Hall Law School.
