Developments and Insights
Designed to standardize data privacy measures across the EU, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came fully into force on May 25, 2018, significantly impacts businesses around the world that collect data on Europeans. The GDPR carries significant fines for noncompliance of up to 4% of annual gross revenue. While the text of the GDPR is settled and in force, member state legislation further implementing the GDPR and crystalizing potential derogations across jurisdictions continue to emerge, along with guidance from data protection authorities. The Sidley GDPR Monitor provides a variety of substantive resources contributed by our lawyers to help you stay up to date and informed the full scope of the regulations and guidance as it continues to unfold.
