Biography
KERRY NILSEN advises financial services clients on a wide variety of transactional and regulatory matters. She works regularly with banks, finance companies, and payment networks on issues related to consumer and retail banking.
Kerry works with bank lenders and fintech clients, counseling on the regulatory complexities of offering financial products and services through new channels. She works extensively on partnership programs between banks and non-bank entities to offer innovative financial programs. Kerry’s practice includes negotiating and drafting commercial agreements among the parties, as well as consumer-facing materials, and advising on complex consumer regulatory issues.
Prior to joining Sidley, Kerry worked at a law firm in New York on general corporate matters.

Kerry’s recent experience includes:
- Advising bank client on structuring consumer and commercial lending programs involving extensive use of third-party servicers.
- Assisting bank in drafting and negotiating co-brand credit card program agreements.
- Advising on open banking and consumer regulatory matters in connection with payment network acquisition and subsequent integration of data aggregator.
