Sidley represented Spire Inc. in its US$2.48 billion acquisition of the Piedmont Natural Gas local distribution company business in Tennessee. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas serves as the largest investor-owned natural gas utility in Tennessee, operating nearly 3,800 miles of distribution and transmission pipelines and serving more than 200,000 customers in the Nashville area. This acquisition will significantly increase the scale of Spire’s regulated business, and further expand its utility footprint, adding Tennessee to Spire’s existing operations in Missouri, Alabama, and Mississippi.
The Sidley team is being led by Jeffrey Kochian and Brittany Harrison (M&A and Private Equity), and includes Elina Sigal and Spencer Li (M&A and Private Equity); Julie Ann Rosenberg Lamm, Nicholas M.
