ALUN EVANS has over 20 years’ experience advising on M&A and joint ventures across the Asia Pacific region, particularly in Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, India, and Taiwan. He has a strong track record of advising corporates, funds, and sponsors on a range of investments, with a focus on complex multijurisdictional transactions.
Alun has experience across a range of sectors, especially infrastructure (including digital infrastructure), energy transition, healthcare, consumer, and financial services.

- ABC Impact, the Singapore-based, Asia-focused impact investor backed by Temasek Trust and Temasek, on its 16% strategic investment in Ayala Healthcare Holdings, Inc. (AC Health), the healthcare arm of Ayala Corporation (PSE: AC), one of the Philippines’ most established conglomerates.
- Macquarie Asset Management, Macquarie Asia Infrastructure Fund and their affiliates on, amongst other deals:
- The sale of STPIL and GRICL toll roads in India to KKR-backed Highways Infrastructure Trust.
- The acquisition of ATL toll road in India from BSCPL Infrastructure.
- The sale of Central Tanks Terminal, the operator of a chemical storage business in Japan, to KKR.
- The sale of Philippine Coastal Storage & Pipeline Corporation, the operator of the largest petroleum import storage facility in the Philippines, to Keppel Infrastructure Trust and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation.
- The sale of Stride Climate Investments, a solar generation platform in India, to Actis.
- The sale of its interests in Formosa 1 and Formosa 2 offshore wind farms in Taiwan.
- Stonepeak on various transactions in the digital infrastructure and energy transition space, including its US$1.3 billion preferred equity investment into Princeton Digital Group (PDG), a leading data center operator in Asia Pacific, headquartered in Singapore with operations in Singapore, Japan, India, Indonesia, China, and Malaysia.
- Partners Group on various transactions in the energy transition and real estate/logistics space, including its investment into five industrial real estate assets in Singapore alongside JD Properties and Eza Hill and its investment into a logistics warehouse business in South Korea.
- Aboitiz Equity Ventures on the acquisition of Gold Coin, one of Asia’s largest agribusinesses operating across 11 countries in Asia, including Singapore, Indonesia, China, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.
- EdgeConnex on:
- The acquisition of a data center business (PT Graha Teknologi Nusantara) from PT Multipolar Technology and Mitsui, plus the subsequent joint venture arrangements, financings, land acquisitions, and various other matters relating to EdgeConnex’s Indonesian operations.
- The 50:50 joint venture, AdaniConneX Private Limited, with Adani Enterprises Limited to acquire, develop, and operate data center facilities throughout India.
- The joint venture with Aboitiz Infrastructure to acquire, develop, and operate data center facilities throughout the Philippines.
- Sime Darby on multiple transactions with Google to build and develop data centers in Malaysia.
- Sumitomo Corporation and other Japanese investors on their investment into Sunseap Group Pte. Ltd., a clean energy solutions provider in the APAC region covering multiple jurisdictions, including Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
- Sembcorp on the acquisition of Gelex, the operator of a renewable energy platform in Vietnam.
- Engie on the disposal of its geothermal assets in Indonesia, including the sale of Rantau Dedap, Muara Laboh, and Rajabasa projects to a combination of Sumitomo Corp, Inpex, Marubeni, and Tohoku Electric.
- Khazanah Nasional Berhad on its investment into Camco South East Asia Ltd, a renewables business, and related joint venture arrangements.
- Total on a joint venture to operate petrol station and a fuel sales business in the Philippines with Filoil.
- Mitsui & Co. on its approx. US$1 billion investment by way of convertible bonds in and strategic alliance with CT Corp Group, one of Indonesia’s largest conglomerates operating across media, travel, infrastructure, energy, and FIG.
- General Atlantic on (i) its Series C fundraising investment into Kumu, a Philippines-based livestream platform; and (ii) on its Series D investment into Biofourmis, a healthtech business based in Singapore.
- Jollibee on: (i) investment into International Coffee & Tea, LLC, which owns and operates the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf international chain of coffee stores and franchises; and (ii) acquisition of Tim Ho Wan.
- Baring Private Equity Asia on an investment by a consortium led by it and Alibaba in The CrownX, the integrated consumer retail arm of Masan Group, one of Vietnam’s largest conglomerates.
- Central, one of the largest supermarket and shopping mall businesses in Thailand, on their €1.1 billion acquisition of the Big C supermarket and mall business in Vietnam from Casino.
- QSR Brands on the disposal of its poultry supply business in Malaysia.
- Monde Nissin on: (i) a minority investment into it from a sovereign wealth fund; and (ii) its IPO on the Philippines Stock Exchange, the largest ever listing in Philippines history to date.
- Emperador on: (i) its acquisition of Whyte & Mackay; and (ii) Fundador Pedro Domecq.
- Indorama on a joint venture to develop and operate a PETValue bottle-to-bottle recycling plant in the Philippines with Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines.
- Pernod Ricard on a joint venture to distribute beverage products in the Philippines with Cosco Capital Inc.
- A Japanese bank on its US$783m acquisition of 20% of Security Bank of the Philippines.
- A Japanese bank on its groundbreaking voluntary tender offer for Bank of Ayudhya, a major Thai commercial bank. This is the largest ever acquisition by a Japanese bank in Asia, with a deal value of US$5.75 billion.
- Bank of Nova Scotia on the disposal of its Malaysian business.
- Union Bank on its bancassurance joint venture with Insular Life.
