JEFF KINNEY is a corporate associate in Sidley’s Houston office. His primary areas of practice include project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity, with an emphasis on the energy industry. He also advises clients with respect to capital markets and corporate governance matters.
Jeff’s project finance experience is focused on the representation of lenders, investors and power purchasers in support of all phases of project development, and he is experienced in the evaluation of all aspects of project documentation. His mergers and acquisitions experience spans the energy, infrastructure and aviation industries and includes representation of both sellers and buyers in all aspects of a transaction. Jeff also advises both management teams and private equity funds in connection with the formation of new portfolio companies. His diverse experience across the project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity spheres allows him to bring unique experience to bear on behalf of his clients in each transaction.
Jeff earned his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, cum laude, where he was an associate editor for the Northwestern University Law Review. While at Northwestern, he also served as the director of operations for the Veterans’ Law Association and the treasurer of the Texas Law Club. He earned his B.A. in History from Texas A&M University.
Prior to completing his undergraduate degree, Jeff served for seven years in the Texas Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant. Among his many awards, he received the Army Achievement Medal in 2006 and 2009, as well as the Texas Medal of Merit in 2007.
