MITCH NOORDYKE advises clients on various complex legal and strategic issues at the intersection of privacy, data governance, cybersecurity, AI, and technology to help manage legal risk throughout the data lifecycle and maximize the value of their digital assets. He leverages a background in data analytics to find practical solutions for clients in a fast-evolving regulatory environment. Mitch partners with clients to understand their compliance obligations and develop responsive policies and procedures, draft agreement documents to facilitate the use of data, and helps clients assess the privacy and cybersecurity risks inherent in business transactions. Mitch also counsels clients through cybersecurity incidents and assessments.
Mitch works with clients at various phases of their privacy and cybersecurity maturity and across a wide range of industries, including financial and other professional services, healthcare, insurance, transportation, consumer products, and manufacturing. He engages with regulators on behalf of his clients and also helps guide clients through litigation and arbitration where data and privacy-impacting matters and technologies are at issue. In particular, Mitch’s analytics background makes him particularly well positioned to assist clients in assessing their use and deployment of online tracking and other data-intensive technologies.
Prior to joining Sidley, Mitch was a Westin Fellow with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and an associate in the privacy and cybersecurity practice at another law firm. While at the IAPP, he focused his research and writing on legislative developments related to privacy at the state level.
Mitch is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, with designations for the U.S. (CIPP/US) and EU (CIPP/E), and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). He also earned an M.S. in business analytics from the University of Minnesota.
