Biography

ISHANI PATEL’s practice focuses on energy and infrastructure matters.

Ishani earned her J.D. from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law where she graduated with honors and was a recipient of the Dean’s Scholarship. During this time, she served as associate managing editor of the SMU International Law Review Journal and was a Student Bar Association Mentor.

While attending law school, Ishani gained practical experience as a legal intern at American Airlines and was also selected to serve as judicial extern for U.S. Magistrate Judge Renee Toliver in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Prior to law school, Ishani received a B.A. in international relations and global studies, and a B.A. in government in 2021. During this time, she studied abroad in Lausanne, Switzerland where she completed a course in sports law.

  • Conn’s Inc. and its ten debtor affiliates, an iconic American appliance and furniture retailer throughout 16 states, in its Chapter 11 proceedings, SDTX, with Debtors’ Chapter 11 Plan supported by all major creditors and fully effective Q3 2025.
  • Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc., a California-based hospital operator, and several of its subsidiaries in its ongoing Chapter 11 cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas. With over US$2.2 billion in outstanding funded debt, Prospect’s Chapter 11 cases are among the largest filed in 2025.
  • OYA Renewables affiliates with confirmation and effectiveness of Chapter 11 cases.
  • Independence Contract Drilling, Inc. (formerly NYSE: ICD) in its successful Chapter 11 restructuring process, resulting in its emergence as a private company.
