Biography
NICOLE CHIPI focuses her practice on internal investigations, as well as representing individual and corporate clients in connection with investigations and enforcement proceedings brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ). She has also handled a number of complex civil and criminal matters, including matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA). Her clients span across a host of industries, including financial services and blockchain, energy, logistics, life sciences, and information technologies.
Nicole also serves on the Miami office’s Pro Bono and Public Interest Law Committee and its Recruiting Committee.
Prior to joining Sidley, Nicole clerked for the Honorable Adalberto Jordan in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and was an associate at another firm’s Miami office. She earned her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, where she graduated summa cum laude and continues to teach as an adjunct professor. She received her B.A. with honors in psychology from Florida International University.
Nicole is fluent in Spanish.

Representative Matters
- An international medical device manufacturer in connection with a Complaint for a Pure Bill of Discovery resulting in a voluntary dismissal of all claims.
- Represents U.S.-based multinational companies in internal and government investigations arising from allegations of FCPA violations in Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia.
- Represented a blockchain developer and multiple company executives in connection with an SEC investigation concerning the sale of a native token, resulting in termination of the investigation.
- Counsel for Audit Committee investigation into alleged wrongdoing by executive, resulting in favorable settlement and termination.
- Counsel for Audit Committee investigation for major media conglomerate relating to whistleblower complaint concerning fraudulent billing practices.
- Represented international retailer in TCPA class action, resulting in favorable pre-trial settlement.
- Represented a multinational energy company in cooperation with the DOJ, SEC, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida with regard to its operations in Venezuela.
- Represented a group of national insurance companies against Medicare Secondary Payee Act claims.
- Represented a major American airline against multiple civil lawsuits alleging violations of the Helms-Burton Act.
Some of the above matters were handled prior to joining Sidley.
