Yabo Lin

YABO LIN is a co-leader of Sidley’s global Technology group. He counsels U.S. and international companies on the corporate, regulatory, investigatory, and litigation matters that shape their businesses. His clients range from leaders in AI, cloud computing, semiconductors, electronic design automation, and e-commerce to biotech, battery, and advanced manufacturing companies. Over nearly three decades, his work has grown from its roots in corporate transactions into a broad, integrated practice. He guides clients through mergers, acquisitions, strategic investments, compliance challenges, government investigations, enforcement proceedings, and high-stakes disputes, with particular depth in cross-border matters.

What sets Yabo apart is his ability to lead a complex project on every dimension: the investment that transforms a business, the government inquiry that arrives without warning, the dispute that threatens a core business line. He has advised on billions of dollars in transactions and is regularly called on to serve as senior coordinator and strategic advisor on mission-critical matters spanning multiple regulators, enforcement authorities, and courts.

General counsel and executives value his steadiness under pressure and his fluency in how technology businesses are built and run. On high-stakes matters, he works closely with clients to assemble the right outside legal team and adjust it as the matter evolves. Above all, clients rely on him and the team he has built to bring order to multi-front legal exposure, to exercise sound judgment where the law and the facts are unsettled, and to carry each matter to a successful resolution.

In recognition of his client service and practice leadership, Yabo was honored in 2024 with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s “Rainmaker” award, given to “exceptional attorneys whose business acumen, passion, and dedication have set them apart as leaders in the legal profession.” In 2006, he also received the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association's highest honor, the Trailblazer Award, for “making substantial and lasting contributions to the Asian Pacific American community.”
