EDUARDO MARQUEZ is a senior managing associate in Sidley’s Houston office. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt financings and cross-border transactions with an emphasis on the energy industry. Eduardo is licensed to practice law in Mexico and Texas and has professional experience representing U.S. and international companies with regards to foreign investment and cross-border transactions between the United States and Latin America.
Eduardo earned his LL.M. (Master of Laws) in International Business and Economic Law from Georgetown University Law Center, where he graduated with distinction, and was on the Dean’s List. While at Georgetown, Eduardo was a student fellow of the Institute of International Economic Law. In 2012, he received his law degree (Licenciado en Derecho) from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, where he also received the Student Development Diploma award. Eduardo also has a Graduate Finance Certificate from Southern Methodist University. Eduardo’s experience includes working in International Organizations, such as the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) and the Organization of American States, as well as in law firms in Mexico. Eduardo has published academic and specialized legal articles in the U.S., South America, Europe and Africa as well as in some of the most prestigious universities in Mexico and Colombia.
Since 2018, Eduardo serves on the board of the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA). Eduardo also serves in the Board of Editors of the Energy Law Advisor, which is the oldest electronic publication of the Institute of Energy Law.
In 2021, Eduardo was shortlisted for the International Bar Association’s (IBA) “Pro Bono Award” for his role in Sidley's Emerging Enterprises Pro Bono Program.
In 2020 and 2021, Eduardo received the President’s Award of Merit from TYLA for his dedication to promoting TYLA and serving its members and community. He was also named to the “2015 Leaders Monitor” and to the “2014 Club Leaders of the Future” by the Latino Leaders Magazine.
Eduardo is a native Spanish speaker, fluently speaks French and is proficient in reading Portuguese.
