Jack S. Yeh

JACK YEH is a seasoned trial lawyer and litigation strategist who leads experienced trial teams in complex commercial disputes throughout the country. He regularly represents both publicly traded companies and emerging businesses in a wide range of industries, including energy, oil and gas, real estate, media and entertainment, sports and apparel, advertising and technology. Jack also has deep experience representing clients in government-regulated industries and is a go-to trial lawyer for disputes involving unfair competition, environmental issues, governmental regulations, the California Environmental Quality Act, public contracting, and governmental-related matters involving state, regional and local public agencies. He has litigated commercial disputes at all stages including arbitrations, mediations, court and jury trials, and appeals, including before the California Court of Appeal, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the California Supreme Court.

Jack’s work has placed him in elite company. Most recently, Jack was named one of the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Top 100 Lawyers” (2025). Additionally, he was honored as the 2022 “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the Century City Bar Association and profiled in the Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2020 and 2025 lists of “Leaders of Influence: Litigators & Trial Lawyers.” He was also named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Leaders of Influence: Minority Attorneys” annual list in 2018, 2021, and 2022, which celebrates 40 of the region’s “particularly stellar minority attorneys.” Benchmark Litigation identified Jack as a “Litigation Star” in its Commercial category (2017–2026). The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association previously called Jack one of its “Best Lawyers under 40” (2002).

Jack is a national co-chair of Sidley’s firmwide Recruiting Committee. He is also the Inclusion Committee co-chair of Sidley’s Greater Los Angeles offices and serves as a member of its Summer Associate Programs Committee. Jack has served on the boards of some of the most prominent civic and public interest organizations in Los Angeles, including Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California, and has twice received the President's Award from the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association.

General Business Litigation

• Trial counsel for Britney Spears, conservatorship and business management in successful prosecution of permanent restraining order claim.
• Complete defense verdict after a two-week jury trial on behalf of a major sports apparel and athletic shoe company in a third-party investor lawsuit relating to alleged misrepresentations over a retail operation agreement.
• Successful prosecution of an international arbitration on behalf of a major sports apparel and athletic shoe company against an Argentinian distributor resulting in a multi-million dollar judgment for breach of contract and permanent injunction for misappropriation of trademarks and website registrations.
• Prosecution of power reliability lawsuits on behalf of one of the world’s largest petroleum companies against the large investor-owned electric utilities. 
• Dismissal with prejudice obtained on behalf of a national accounting firm hired by the Southern California Regional Railroad Authority (Metrolink) to audit bids submitted in connection with Metrolink’s RFP for consulting services. The subcontractor who was removed from the procurement sued the accounting firm for negligence and tortious interference in connection with the audit. The trial court granted a Special Motion to Strike under California’s anti-SLAPP statute (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) and awarded the full amount of attorneys’ fees. 
• The successful prosecution of a copyright infringement action on behalf of a prominent Hollywood studio and the largest independent distributor of DVD content in North America against a production company and a competing distributor involving the domestic home video distribution rights to multiple seasons of a television series. Obtained a binding arbitration award that included the recovery of attorneys’ fees.
• Unanimous defense verdict obtained on behalf of an employer in a one-week disability discrimination jury trial.
• Defense verdict obtained on behalf of an insurance carrier in a malicious prosecution bench trial.
• Summary judgment obtained in the United States District Court’s Southern District of Texas in a disability discrimination action filed by a legally blind concert-goer against a publicly traded ticketing company. The case drew national attention over the interpretation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
• Dismissal obtained from the New York Supreme Court in a breach of contract dispute with several concert promoters against a publicly traded ticketing company.
• Successful defense of a media company against a TRO sought by a Hollywood actress claiming commercial misappropriation and Lanham Act violations.
• Successful resolution of several franchise disputes filed in California and Michigan state courts against a publicly traded petroleum company.

Unfair Competition Law Litigation

• Successful defense of an international outdoor advertising company in a representative action filed under California Business and Professions Code Section 17200 alleging violations of California’s political contribution laws and various California regulatory restrictions. 
• Successful defense of an international retail company against a California Business and Professions Code Section 17200 class action for alleged violations of California’s recycling laws.

Government and Land Use Litigation

• Successfully obtained a verdict and seven-figure judgment on behalf of a national trucking industry company against the California Department of Transportation after a complex four-week jury trial involving the agency’s bad faith breach of a land exchange agreement.
• Successful defense verdicts obtained on behalf of a large retailer in several mandamus trials involving California Environmental Quality Act lawsuits filed by citizens groups challenging public agencies’ certification of Environmental Impact Reports approving the retailer’s projects.
• Successfully defended a statewide renewable energy initiative from a pre-election legal challenge filed by a utility-sponsored opposition claiming false and misleading statements were contained in the California Ballot Pamphlet issued by the California Secretary of State and successfully defended a statewide gaming initiative from multiple pre-election legal challenges filed by Indian tribes in the California Supreme Court and California Court of Appeal.
• Successful defense verdict (and appellate court affirmance) obtained on behalf of an international security-inks provider in a statewide public contracts and California Public Records Act challenge filed by a disqualified bidder.
• Dismissal obtained from the Superior Court of California (demurrer sustained without leave to amend) in a public contracting challenge filed by a disgruntled bidder against the Los Angeles Unified School District. 
• Successful defense verdict (and appellate court affirmance) obtained on behalf of a prominent private girls’ school in a mandamus trial involving a California Environmental Quality Act lawsuit filed by local residents challenging the City of Los Angeles’ certification of an Environmental Impact Report approving the school’s relocation into the Brentwood community of Los Angeles.
• Successful defense verdict obtained on behalf of a contractor in a mandamus trial involving a series of related land use, public contracting and political contribution lawsuits filed by disgruntled billboard companies challenging the MTA’s award of a contract for its Automated Public Toilet project.
