Sidley’s Doreen Rachal Honored With the 2023 “Adams Pro Bono Publico Award”

Doreen M. Rachal has been presented with the 2023 “Adams Pro Bono Publico Award” by the Supreme Judicial Court Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services. Named for John Adams and John Quincy Adams, the annual award honors Massachusetts lawyers, law students, law firms, and legal organizations for their “outstanding commitment” to providing pro bono legal services for the benefit of individuals of limited means.
Doreen focuses her practice on white collar criminal defense, internal investigations, and criminal and civil government investigations, including grand jury matters. She is a dedicated pro bono practitioner who has leveraged her experience and legal acumen to bring about meaningful, impactful change in the Boston area through her numerous pro bono, community, and industry efforts. For the past two years, Doreen has served as lead counsel in one of the most significant education rights cases in Boston’s history. Doreen, along with several other co-counsel, is defending the Boston Public School District’s implementation of an interim admissions policy geared towards creating racial equity representation for students of color at the Boston Latin School, the Boston Latin Academy, and the O’Bryant School of Math and Science.
