In 2022, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) continued progressing toward prepandemic levels of enforcement activity. The federal False Claims Act (FCA) remains DOJ’s favorite tool to address alleged healthcare fraud, but other federal and state enforcement authorities have increasingly demonstrated interest in using the tools at their disposal, including antitrust laws, to target the healthcare industry.
