Sidley Secures Full Denial of Preliminary Injunction on Behalf of GR Energy
March 6, 2023
Sidley is representing GR Energy and its family of companies, including Wellmatics, a wireline tool designer and producer, in a lawsuit in the Southern District of Texas brought by Canatex Completions Solutions. Canatex alleges a Wellmatics tool infringes a Canatex patent relating to releasing downhole oil and gas wireline perforation tools. Immediately after filing the lawsuit, Canatex sought a preliminary injunction, which would have prevented Wellmatics and GR Energy from making and utilizing their tool until a full determination of the merits could be reached. Through rigorous discovery, persuasive brief writing, and vigorous advocacy at the evidentiary hearing, Sidley secured a full denial of the preliminary injunction on March 2, 2023.
The Sidley team is led by Aimee Fagan and Phillip Aurentz, and supported by Andrew Langford, Amanda Steger, and Dunn Westhoff.
