MATTHEW WALKER focuses his practice on transactions in the energy industry, including representation of financial institutions and energy companies in energy financings and commodity and hedging transactions.
Matthew’s work has earned him recognition in Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America® 2026 for Energy Law and Financial Services Regulation Law.
Matt earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law and he also attended Georgetown University School of Law where he was the Executive Vice President of Public Relations of The Federalist Society. He received his B.A. in history, with highest honors, from Emory University.

- Represented a sponsor-backed borrower in a cross-border refinancing of its data center businesses.
- Representing Clearlake Capital Group, L.P. in its proposed US$5.2 billion acquisition of Cornerstone OnDemand, Inc.
- Represented The Energy & Minerals Group (EMG) in connection with a US$172.5 million senior secured term loan facility for EMG Utica, LLC.
- Various arrangers and administrative agents in reserve-based revolving credit facilities for exploration & production companies with assets in various basins throughout United States.
- Administrative agent – US$2.0 billion term loan and revolving credit facility for Southwestern Energy Company.
- Representation of a borrower in connection with a US$125 million term loan and revolving credit facility related to the financing of a 484 MW gas-fired peaking power generation facility.
- Representation of U.S. Oil & Refining Co. in the negotiation of an intermediation facility with the commodities trading affiliate of a major investment bank for hydrocarbon inventory working capital and receivables as well as the related letter of credit facility.
