A Green Wave of environmental protection and sustainability is sweeping across the globe — powering new regulatory requirements driven by ethical consumer demands. How can manufacturers respond to this sea change, and what is on the horizon beyond 2021?

The “going green” mandate is transforming the chemicals and consumer products industries. In addition, the diverse geopolitical and national security concerns of governments and international organizations result in constantly changing trade controls (sanctions and export controls) impacting those industries. Part I of this session explores international trade aspects of the green wave in chemicals and consumer products, using the move to circularity in plastics as a case study. Part II looks into how international trade in chemicals and consumer products is affected by sanctions and export controls.
