The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) is an industry trade group representing securities firms, banks, and asset management companies. SIFMA’s annual AML conference gathers securities specialists, regulators, and law enforcement agencies to speak on the most consequential anti-money laundering and financial crimes issues facing the industry.
On May 6, Sidley partner Paul Tyrrell will participate in a panel on “Implementing the AML Act and CTA,” which will address the beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting rule and the recently finalized access rule. The panel will discuss reporting challenges and considerations for accessing the registry, expected revisions to the CDD rule, the national priorities rulemaking, and other AML Act rulemakings in the pipeline. They will offer practical takeaways to help institutions prepare for these changes. Other panelists include Adrienne Kosta of Fidelity Investments, James Martinelli of FinCEN, and Kenneth Triemstra of Citi.
Sidley partner Lara Thyagarajan will participate on May 7 in a panel on “AML Considerations in Digital Assets for Broker-Dealers,” sharing her insights on the regulatory landscape and recent trends in this volatile industry. The panel, which will also include Michelle Neufeld of BitGo, Jamie Udinson of FINRA, and Jeff Weiss of Robinhood Markets, will discuss how to establish a comprehensive AML framework that effectively mitigates risks associated with digital assets while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
